Welcome to Covertures. These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of covertures.com and, where applicable, the purchase of products or services from Covertures.
By using this website, submitting a project inquiry, approving an estimate or proposal, placing an order, or purchasing products or services from Covertures, you acknowledge that you have reviewed and agree to the terms applicable to your transaction.
Individual estimates, proposals, invoices, purchase orders, or written project agreements may contain additional or different terms. If there is a conflict, the terms of the specific written project agreement will control for that project.
Covertures provides custom furnishings, upholstery, casegoods, pillows, design-related products and services, furniture restoration or refurbishment, sourcing, and other home furnishing services.
Because much of our work is custom or made to order, each project may differ in scope, materials, construction, pricing, and completion time.
Estimates and proposals are based upon the information available at the time they are prepared, including measurements, photographs, material selections, requested specifications, labor requirements, vendor pricing, and anticipated project scope.
Unless otherwise stated in writing, an estimate is not a guarantee that unforeseen conditions, additional labor, material changes, shipping charges, or modifications to the original project will not affect the final price.
If the scope of a project changes after approval, Covertures may provide an updated estimate or obtain approval for additional charges before proceeding with substantial additional work.
Accurate measurements are important for custom furnishings.
When Covertures performs measurements, we will use reasonable professional care in preparing specifications for the project.
When a customer provides measurements, dimensions, photographs, templates, specifications, or other project information, the customer is responsible for their accuracy.
Covertures is not responsible for costs resulting from inaccurate customer-supplied measurements or specifications.
Many Covertures products are created, altered, upholstered, fabricated, finished, or sourced specifically for an individual customer.
Once fabrication, upholstery, cutting, ordering, finishing, or other custom work has begun, an order generally cannot be changed or cancelled without potential additional charges.
Custom and made-to-order items are generally not returnable simply because the customer changes their mind after production has begun.
Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be waived.
Custom projects may require a deposit before materials are ordered or work begins.
The required deposit, payment schedule, and remaining balance will be identified in the applicable estimate, proposal, invoice, or project agreement.
A project is not considered scheduled for production until any required approval and deposit have been received.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, final payment may be required before delivery, installation, shipment, or release of completed merchandise.
Cancellation terms may vary depending upon the nature and stage of a project.
If an order is cancelled before materials have been ordered or work has begun, Covertures will determine whether any portion of a deposit is refundable based upon costs already incurred and the terms of the applicable project agreement.
Once custom materials have been purchased, fabric has been cut, merchandise has been specially ordered, or fabrication or upholstery has begun, amounts associated with those materials, services, or commitments may be non-refundable.
Any refund legally due following a valid cancellation will be handled in accordance with applicable law and the applicable project agreement.
Textiles, leather, wood, stone, metals and other natural or handcrafted materials may contain variations in color, grain, texture, pattern, markings, dye lots, distressing, or finish.
These variations are often inherent characteristics of the material and are not necessarily defects.
Computer monitors, mobile devices, photography, lighting, and printed samples may also display colors differently from the actual material.
Whenever practical, customers are encouraged to review physical samples before approving significant material selections.
Covertures may accept customer-supplied fabric or other materials when appropriate for a project.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that supplied materials are suitable for the intended use and that sufficient quantities are provided.
Covertures cannot guarantee the durability, performance, colorfastness, manufacturing quality, or suitability of materials that we did not manufacture or supply.
If additional material is required because of flaws, pattern matching, repeats, shortages, damage, or other characteristics of customer-supplied materials, additional costs or delays may result.
When restoring, refinishing, modifying, or reupholstering existing or vintage furniture, conditions may be discovered only after the piece has been opened or work has begun.
Examples may include weakened frames, deteriorated foam, broken springs, previous repairs, damaged wood, concealed structural issues, insects or contamination, or other deterioration.
If significant unforeseen work is necessary, Covertures may contact the customer before proceeding and may provide an additional estimate.
Custom furnishings are created individually rather than through identical mass production.
Minor differences between samples, photographs, drawings, renderings, or separate handmade pieces may occur.
Reasonable variations associated with handcrafted work are part of the character of a custom product and are not necessarily considered defects.
Any completion or delivery date provided by Covertures is an estimate unless expressly guaranteed in writing.
Custom projects may depend upon fabric availability, vendor inventory, manufacturing schedules, freight carriers, subcontractors, material availability, weather, and other circumstances outside Covertures' direct control.
We will make reasonable efforts to communicate significant delays when we become aware of them.
Shipping, freight, delivery, assembly, installation, or white-glove services may involve additional charges unless specifically included in a written proposal.
Customers are responsible for providing reasonable access to the delivery location and for identifying conditions that could affect delivery, including stairs, elevators, narrow doorways, gated access, building restrictions, or other physical limitations.
Additional charges resulting from undisclosed or unexpected delivery conditions may be the customer's responsibility.
Covertures may source products, fabrics, hardware, furnishings, or other materials from independent manufacturers and vendors.
Third-party products may be subject to the manufacturer's own warranty, return, replacement, availability, and shipping policies.
Covertures is not responsible for manufacturing delays, discontinued products, freight interruptions, or other circumstances caused by an independent vendor, although we will make reasonable efforts to assist customers in resolving project-related issues.
Customers are encouraged to inspect completed merchandise promptly upon delivery or receipt.
If you believe an item has been damaged in transit, contains a manufacturing defect, or does not conform materially to the approved project specifications, please contact Covertures promptly with photographs and a description of the concern.
We want an opportunity to evaluate legitimate concerns and determine an appropriate resolution.
The longevity and appearance of furnishings depend upon appropriate use and care.
Exposure to direct sunlight, excessive heat or moisture, pets, spills, cleaning chemicals, improper cleaning methods, ordinary wear, or misuse may affect fabrics, finishes, leather, wood, and other materials.
Customers should follow any manufacturer or material-specific care instructions provided with their furnishings.

Where a separate photography or confidentiality agreement exists for a project, that agreement will control.

Changes will be posted on this page with the date of the latest revision.
Changes will not retroactively alter the terms of an existing approved project agreement unless agreed to by the parties or otherwise permitted by law.
